Romania – Cluj-Napoca
The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca
Details
Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN), being a public higher education and research institution, pays increased attention to the energy efficiency of its campus buildings, as the annual cost of utilities is currently around 5% of total costs. It is located in Cluj-Napoca, which is the second most populous city in Romania, in the north-western part of the country. Among the buildings proposed as a demonstration site, there is a swimming pool with an increased capacity for thermal energy storage, two student hostels and six research and education buildings, all already integrated as a building network with Demand Response capability.
Indicative scenarios:
- Utilisation of BE-PLATO tool for planning and system sizing for high thermal requirements of Swimming Pool Complex; evaluating economic feasibility in such scenarios.
- Installation of the Integration Platform prototype and interconnection with the local BEMS along with the solar cooling and thermal storage components for small-scale testing purposes.
- System testing with legacy HVAC and lighting equipment
