Technical University of Cluj-Napoca Public Engagement Project
UoB worked with the community organisation Cluj Cultural Centre, a local artist called Ioana Trusca, and an expert local Science Education Facilitator called Marius Mornea. TUCN also supported this project.
This methodology aimed to design workshops centred around a creative activity to help participants explore their thoughts and feelings towards Cluj-Napoca’s sustainable future and the role that RE-COGNITION technology could have in those futures. The creative activity took the form of a series of bespoke RET/sustainability-themed stamps and bespoke templates that the participants could use to help them creatively reflect on specific questions. Each template had its question, and participants would then use the bespoke stamps and stamp the template to answer the questions creatively. Facilitated questions could then be used to explore the topics, help participants reflect on their creative answers, and generate group discussion about Cluj-Napoca’s sustainable future and the RE-COGNITION technology. The workshops and questions were also adapted to suit the knowledge and lived experience of the public group involved.
In total, 231 members of the Cluj-Napoca community were engaged throughout this project.
